Leighton Space is a cross-disciplinary independent design studio based in Kentish Town, London.
Driven by a passion for clear communication and material experimentation, we work across visual identity, publications, product design, spatial and digital experiences. Leighton Space was founded in 2020 between graphic designers Peter Roden, Samuel Eccles, and 3D animator and designer Spike Taylor Manson. As a studio of curious minds, we believe in thorough research and experimentation. We don’t follow trends, we develop visual languages that work for you. Let us obsess about the detail.
Combining bespoke typography, craft techniques and digital technologies, we create context-specific design solutions - from identities, books, magazines, packaging and experiences. Recent commissions include visual identity for a net-zero chocolate business, packaging & campaign design for an internationally acclaimed artist, art direction for an independent magazine and book design for an art book on the life of Marlene Dietrich.
With an understanding of sustainable design communication with cultural impact, we use an intuitive and collaborative approach to guide our projects towards the most thoughtful outcome. That’s why we take great care to listen and nurture both our new and long-standing client relationships to create unique, crafted and timeless design solutions. We enjoy experimenting with materials and machinery, constantly developing prototypes in-house, to help inform our understanding of the translation from digital to physical.
+ Process
Every project is unique and we tailor our approach to you. However, we try to follow a clear structure to simplify the process. There are four key stages that will help us guide you through the project:
1. Working together we examine what is already there, open the discussion around wants and fears and establish the needs of the project.
2. We expand our field of vision to understand how the outcome might look and feel. We refine the idea step by step into a clear concept.
3. Through initial drafts, the shared vision starts to form. Together, we establish a coherent visual and formal language - we take care of form and content creation, image & text editing.
4. Only once your entire team relates to the collective outcome do we start to finalize the details. We look after operations and support throughout until the finished product and beyond.
